Today, Youth For Tomorrow and Founder Joe Gibbs launched the Enduring Legacy Capital Campaign designed to fund the expansion of its facilities on its Bristow, Virginia campus. Since its inception in 1986, Youth For Tomorrow has grown from a small group home for boys to 11 multi-dimensional programs serving more than 4,200 children and their families during the current year through its behavioral health, private secondary school and residential services. The campaign is being driven by increasing demand for its nationally accredited and award winning programs.

The Youth For Tomorrow Board of Trustees conducted an extensive assessment of the organization’s programs and the community’s needs in 2014. With the staff’s awareness of service gaps, the Board unanimously approved a motion set forth by Founder Gibbs for the expansion. The Enduring Legacy Capital Campaign will make YFT’s services more widely available across Northern Virginia, the Commonwealth of Virginia, and beyond. It will allow Youth For Tomorrow to reach and help more children and families seeking crisis intervention in the lives of their children than ever before.

The proposed expansion will include the construction of a Family Behavioral Health and Administration Building, a Therapeutic Music and Arts Center, a Chapel, and two new residences. The Campaign expects to raise $19M in 18 months, with $1.5M already pledged. These figures include the costs for planning and construction, as well as five years of maintenance and operating costs for each building. The campaign is led by an 11 member Steering Committee consisting of dedicated donors, partners and advocates of Youth For Tomorrow, which includes its co-chairs, Coach Joe Gibbs and Mrs. Susan LaPierre.

Youth For Tomorrow has been helping at-risk children become responsible members of society for more than 29 years. In 2014, more than 400 teenage boys and girls were served in the residential programs, which includes program for sex trafficked domestic girls. This program has become a national model for re-directing the lives of these victims. More than 3,800 children and their families were served in YFT’s six Behavioral Health Services Programs in satellite offices in Woodbridge and Manassas.  YFT is nationally accredited through the Council on Accreditation (COA), an independent not-for-profit organization headquartered in New York that accredits with human service organizations like YFT throughout the nation.  For additional information about YFT or its programs visit www.youthfortomorrow.org.
