Chidera Anumudu, MSW

Chidera AnumuduHello! My name is Chidera and I am a Masters level Social Worker who is working towards my license in clinical social Work. I earned my bachelor’s degree in psychology from the North Carolina State University and my Masters in Social Work from the University of South Carolina in Columbia. I have previously worked in a psychiatric residential treatment facility where I provided direct care services to youth who had experienced trauma and who struggled with a mental illness. I have also provided direct care services to youth who were diagnosed with an eating disorder. Lastly, I completed my graduate clinical internship in a children’s advocacy center where I provided therapy services to children and adolescents who had experienced and witnessed physical, sexual and emotional abuse.

I am very passionate about providing high quality mental health services to individuals who have experienced trauma and have been diagnosed with a mental illness. I primarily work with children and adolescents but I am more than happy to work with adults. My specialties include Anxiety, depression, Trauma, suicidal ideation, self-harm, and behavioral difficulties. My goal is to provide a safe space where individuals can begin the healing process and to gain skills and coping mechanisms to manage their mental illness and daily life challenges.

In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, Baking, listening to music, and watching television.

James Craft, RIC

James CraftI am currently a Resident in Counseling (RIC) with Youth for Tomorrow. I am also under supervision to become a Licensed Personal Counselor (LPC) with the same. I received a Master’s Degree in Counseling from Argosy University and a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from George Mason University. I have extensive experience in working with adolescents and children in outpatient, group counseling and school settings. I have also worked with adults (both inpatient and outpatient), working with a variety of diagnoses, including anxiety, depression, communication, and life change adjustment.

I believe that, regardless of the challenges one might face, one always possesses some positive attributes worthy of admiration and respect. I am a firm believer in the importance of encouragement and hope, and I try to foster these things in those with whom I work. My therapeutic approach includes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, as well as Person-Centered and Narrative Therapy. The thoughts and stories that we tell ourselves are powerful motivators in our lives, for good or ill, and changing these beliefs can result in a change within ourselves.

In my off time, I engage in such geeky pursuits such as board games. I also enjoy taking in the beauty of nature by hiking in the forests of Virginia. In a more urban setting, I enjoy walking around DC and taking in the wonderful attractions this historic city has to offer.
